Exceptional Performances Shine in CUNYAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Competitions
In a display of remarkable talent and determination, three standout athletes have captured the spotlight in the recent CUNYAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field competitions.
Aaliyah Bartholomew, representing Medgar Evers, emerged as the Track Athlete of the Week following her outstanding performance at the Gallaudet University Invitational. Hailing from Grenada, WI, Bartholomew showcased her prowess by clocking the league’s top time in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 18.37 seconds. Additionally, she achieved a personal best in the 200m event, completing it in 29.18 seconds. Bartholomew’s contributions were instrumental in Medgar Evers securing top-five finishes in both the 4x400m and 4x100m relays.
Serena Warner, representing CCNY, earned the title of Field Athlete of the Week after her impressive showing at the All-American Meet. Warner, a native of Nanuet, N.Y., dominated in the shot put and discus events, recording the league’s leading throws of 9.64 meters and 26.25 meters, respectively. Her consistent excellence in these disciplines underscores her status as a formidable competitor in the league.
Meanwhile, York’s Katryna Francois made her mark as the Track Rookie of the Week at the Jack Maloney Invitational. Hailing from Queens, N.Y., Francois demonstrated her potential by setting a new personal record in the 100m event with a CUNYAC-qualifying time of 13.52 seconds, the second-fastest time in the conference this season. Additionally, she posted the league’s No. 2 time in the 200m event with an impressive mark of 28.05 seconds. Francois’ achievements signal a promising future in CUNYAC track and field competitions.
