Oregon Ducks Spring Scrimmage Sees Several Players Injured, Coach Lanning Assures Fans
In a spring scrimmage that holds little significance in the broader context of the season, the Oregon Ducks faced a setback as a handful of key players were unable to finish the game due to injuries sustained on Saturday. Among those affected were safety Kobe Savage, linebacker Jerry Mixon, wide receivers Traeshon Holden and Jurrion Dickey, as well as cornerback Dontae Manning.
While initial assessments suggest that none of the injuries are severe enough to jeopardize the upcoming season, the news raised concerns among fans, particularly due to the involvement of key contributors to the team.
Following the scrimmage, head coach Dan Lanning addressed the injuries, expressing confidence in the overall health of the team. “I think we have some dings here and there, but overall, you know, I think our team’s gonna be in good shape,” Lanning stated.
When questioned about the frustration of witnessing injuries during a spring game, Lanning emphasized the inherent physical nature of football. “Football is football,” he asserted. “The only way to get better is by playing football. You only get a limited amount of time that you can actually go out there and play. We’ve got time to get healthy.”
Lanning’s reassurance stemmed from his belief that none of the injuries appeared to be serious, providing optimism as the team prepares for the fall season in a few months.
While the scrimmage served as an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and for the coaching staff to evaluate talent, the focus now shifts to recovery and ensuring the team’s roster is in optimal condition for the challenges ahead.
