Bobby Pierce Triumphs at Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, Clinches First Big Gator Championship
In a week filled with thrilling racing action at Volusia Speedway Park, Bobby Pierce emerged as the standout performer, clinching his first career Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator championship. Despite facing challenges early in the week, Pierce’s consistency and determination propelled him to victory.
The “Smooth Operator” kicked off the points chase on Tuesday with an unfortunate setback, getting caught in a multi-car pileup after leading a majority of the Feature. However, Pierce wasted no time in putting his #32 machine to work, bouncing back with a vengeance.
Over the following days, Pierce showcased his skill and resilience by capturing two consecutive golden gator trophies on Wednesday. He continued to impress with two third-place finishes on Thursday and Friday in the World of Outlaws CASE Late Models series.
Reflecting on his achievement, Pierce expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s badass. I’ve got some little gators, but the big one, I haven’t seen until today. I’m excited.” His performance throughout the week, including two wins, four top fives, and four top 10s, proved his mettle as one of the most consistent drivers on the track.
Pierce’s stellar performance saw him best competitors such as Devin Moran and Brandon Sheppard in the standings, solidifying his status as a force to be reckoned with in dirt track racing.
“It proves that we were the most consistent car all week, and that’s even with falling out of a race,” Pierce remarked. “If you would have told me I was gonna win the Big Gator after falling out of that race on Tuesday, I probably would have said you’re crazy.”
With the Series points lead in hand as they head to Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, TN, Pierce remains focused on his ultimate goal of securing a second World of Outlaws title. His improved performance compared to the previous year gives him confidence for the season ahead.
“I keep looking at it. We’re six points ahead now, but I think last year we were 50 points out of the lead,” Pierce said. “It’s too early to be looking at the points, but it’s really cool that we leave here with a Big Gator before we go racing again.”
Fans can catch Bobby Pierce and the World of Outlaws CASE Late Models action as they continue the 2024 season at Thunderhill Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23. Tickets are available at the track, and every lap will be available to watch live for those unable to attend in person.
Bobby Pierce’s impressive performance serves as a testament to his skill, determination, and status as a rising star in dirt track racing.
