Chaz Mostert Continues Townsville Podium Streak Without Victory
Australian Supercars driver Chaz Mostert has set a unique record in the ATCC/Supercars Championship, collecting nine podium finishes at the Reid Park Street Circuit in Townsville without securing a race win. Mostert’s latest achievements came during the recent round where he clinched second and third place, further solidifying his reputation as a consistent contender but also highlighting his elusive quest for victory at the North Queensland venue.
Despite narrowly missing out on the top spot multiple times, Mostert remains optimistic and upbeat about his performances. “A second and a third, can’t complain about that after where we rolled out at the beginning of the weekend,” he remarked after the race weekend. “Any time you get a trophy in this championship is great; I had a lot of fun in the battles.”
Mostert’s record-breaking streak surpasses previous ties with drivers like Will Davison at Darwin and himself at The Bend, making him the outright record-holder for the most podiums without a win at a single venue in Supercars history.
Reflecting on the broader context, only two other drivers, Craig Lowndes and Murray Carter, come close to rivaling Mostert’s unique record in the championship’s history. Lowndes managed 10 podiums at overseas venues without clinching a win, while Carter concluded his career with an impressive 20 podium finishes but no victories in the ATCC/Supercars Championship.
As Mostert continues his campaign with Walkinshaw Andretti United, his determination to convert podium finishes into a coveted Townsville victory remains a focal point in the ongoing Supercars season.
