In a recent appearance on the “Beyond The Grid” podcast, 1992 Formula 1 World Champion Nigel Mansell opened up about his remarkable career and the intense battles that defined his time on the track. Speaking with host Tom Clarkson, Mansell shared vivid memories of his championship-winning season and his storied rivalry with Ayrton Senna.

Mansell, who clinched his first and only F1 title at the age of 39, described the overwhelming emotions he experienced after finally achieving his long-sought goal. He recounted the moment of victory at the 1992 Hungarian Grand Prix, expressing a mixture of disbelief and emptiness. “It’s the flash of adrenaline where everything stands still,” Mansell said. “When something means so much to you, and you think you’ve actually done it and achieved it, and you’ve spent 40 years of your life attaining that – basically what happens, I think your brain upsurges to the point that your brain fuses. So when it fuses, there’s emptiness – because you can’t compute anything!”
