Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin has cemented herself in the University of Iowa’s history books.
Even though Martin wasn’t able to secure a national championship while she was at Iowa, the two consecutive runner-up finishes they had were the best seasons in program history.
Of course, Martin was able to guide Iowa to this success with Caitlin Clark, who is arguably the best women’s college basketball player of all time.
This dynamic duo came agonizingly close to being champions at Iowa before moving on to their WNBA careers.
Martin returned to Iowa on Wednesday to speak with her former program. While there, she discussed what the Hawkeyes must do to succeed next season.
“For the rest of the summer, have the mindset of, ‘Why not?'” Martin said to Iowa’s team, per a video from Iowa Women’s Basketball’s X account.
“Why can’t you guys go back to a Final Four? Why can’t you guys win the Big 10 Championship again? Why not?
“Don’t put any limitations on who you can be and where you guys can go, because that’s bulls***,” Martin continued. “F- it, go have fun, and be the best teammate you can be.”
