Red Flag Warning Is In Effect: 18-Year-Old Rookie Cowboy Wacey Schalla Explodes onto the Rodeo Scene
The Frontier Days Rodeo in Cheyenne is witnessing a historic moment as 18-year-old rookie cowboy Wacey Schalla makes an explosive debut, competing in the finals for two events. Despite his young age, Schalla has prepared for this moment his entire life.
“Ever since I was little, I’ve prepared myself for this,” Schalla said. “I’m just going out at them one at a time and trying to make it. I drew that bull earlier over the 4th in North Dakota, and it was 86 and a half. So I knew if I did what I could, I could capitalize on it, so I was pretty excited to make it work out.”
Having turned 18 in November, Schalla’s rapid rise on the professional circuit is nothing short of remarkable. He has already claimed nine all-around titles, with his sights set on a tenth in Cheyenne. These victories come on the heels of his all-around title win at the CNFR in June.
Schalla is competing in both the bareback and bull riding events in Cheyenne, showcasing his extraordinary talent. He is the only bull rider to score above 90 points so far, with an impressive 88 in bareback. For Schalla, participating in the Frontier Days Rodeo is a dream come true.
“Definitely the biggest rodeo I’ve been to. The crowd’s awesome, people are awesome, concerts every night. So yeah, like I said, just go at them one at a time and hopefully we’ll win that short round.”
Congratulations to Wacey Schalla as he heads into the finals tomorrow. We wish him the best of luck!
