Dennis Hauger Reflects on Challenging Sprint Race at Spa-Francorchamps
In the aftermath of a rainy Sprint Race at Spa-Francorchamps, Dennis Hauger, representing MP Motorsport, secured a commendable second place. Despite a disrupted race schedule and limited laps, Hauger’s performance stood out.
The race, marred by adverse weather conditions, saw Hauger battling through slippery and cold conditions on a track that is notoriously difficult when wet. With minimal running before the race, Hauger faced the challenge head-on, pushing hard through Eau Rouge to maintain his position.
Reflecting on the day’s events, Hauger admitted the conditions were far from ideal. “It was not easy, obviously not having done any laps in the wet this week and then straight into it,” Hauger noted. “Going through Eau Rouge, pushing like crazy to try and keep the gaps was intense. Overall, it was a bit of a weird day with not many laps, but I’m happy to get P2.”
The day was further complicated by a delayed start and the postponement of the race, which added to the mental strain on drivers. Hauger spoke about the mental challenges of such a situation. “I think you are still in the zone, going in and out between. You have to stay prepared and keep that focus to stay sharp, even though it is a bit later,” he said. “It was fine, for me it didn’t matter too much. You get a bit bored almost because you want to go and then you just have to sit and wait but it was fine.”
Looking ahead to the Feature Race, Hauger remains optimistic. “We didn’t quite have the pace to go for the win today anyway, but I am happy with P2 and looking forward to tomorrow,” he concluded. Hauger’s resilience and adaptability in challenging conditions demonstrate his skill and determination as he prepares for the next challenge on the track.
