Kate Garraway Set for Cameo in Steven Moffat’s New ITV Drama ‘Douglas Is Cancelled’
Kate Garraway, the beloved Good Morning Britain presenter, is set to make a cameo appearance in Steven Moffat’s upcoming ITV drama, “Douglas Is Cancelled.” The four-part series will feature Garraway playing herself in the first episode, where she interviews the show’s lead characters, Douglas (played by Hugh Bonneville) and Madeline (played by Karen Gillan), at the GMB studio【The Mirror】.
This is not Garraway’s first cameo in a television series or film. She has previously appeared as herself in “Keith Lemon’s Lemon La Vida Loca,” “Hollyoaks,” and “Sharknado 5: Global Swarming.”
“Douglas Is Cancelled” centers around Douglas, a respected news anchor whose life and career are thrown into chaos after a sexist joke he made at a wedding becomes public. The scandal forces Douglas to reassess his understanding of his co-anchor, Madeline.
The series boasts an impressive cast, including Alex Kingston of “Doctor Who,” Nick Mohammed from “Ted Lasso,” Ben Miles from “The Crown,” and Simon Russell Beale from “The Death of Stalin.”
Garraway’s role in the series was announced shortly after she paid an emotional tribute to her late husband, Derek Draper, marking her first Father’s Day without him. Reflecting on the day, Garraway shared on social media, “We started by visiting Derek’s grave early – and talked about all the amazing things we loved about him, the daft things he did to make us laugh and all the things he has given us that we’ll never forget.”
“Douglas Is Cancelled” promises to be a compelling drama, examining themes of scandal, career, and personal relationships, with Garraway’s cameo adding a touch of real-world authenticity to the story.
