Kate Garraway Reacts to Giovanni Pernice Exit Rumors: “He Will Be Deeply Missed”
Rumors are swirling that *Strictly Come Dancing* favorite Giovanni Pernice may be leaving the BBC show after reports emerged on May 16 suggesting his exclusion from an internal memo listing the 2024 professional dancers. The news has prompted reactions from fans and former contestants alike, including *Good Morning Britain* host Kate Garraway.
During the May 17 episode of *Good Morning Britain*, Kate, who competed on *Strictly* in 2007, shared her thoughts on the potential departure. “If it is true, he will be deeply, deeply missed, because he was great on the show and people love him,” she said. Kate also highlighted Pernice’s close working relationship with fellow dancer Anton Du Beke, noting their many TV collaborations.
The BBC has since responded to the rumors with a brief statement, saying: “The Professional Dancers for *Strictly Come Dancing* 2024 will be announced in due course.”
Pernice, who has been a staple on the show, was most recently partnered with actress Amanda Abbington in the latest season. However, Abbington exited the competition for “personal reasons.” Pernice addressed her departure with a heartfelt message: “Amanda… I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love.”
In addition to the exit rumors, Pernice recently revealed on Instagram that he plans to take a break after his tour next year. “I have had a wonderful time this year on my solo tour and already looking forward to even bigger and better next year!” he wrote. “After performing in front of over half a million people for seven years in a row, I plan to take a little break after next year’s tour.”
