- Vinicius Junior is wanted by the Saudi Pro League
- Real Madrid star has a €1bn release clause in his current contract
- Brazil international has held off on talks over new deal at the Bernabeu
Vinicius Junior, a winger for Real Madrid and Brazil, has reportedly opted to hold off on deciding whether to accept an offer from the Saudi Pro League until the end of the current campaign.
After helping Los Blancos win both the La Liga and the Champions League in 2023–2024, the 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best wingers in the world and is among the top contenders to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Due to his achievements, Saudi Arabia has made him a high-profile target. Having previously signed players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and N’Golo Kante, the Saudis are still eager to capture the best players in the world.
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, dismissed the reports as “just speculation” when it was claimed that Vinicius had turned down a possible summer transfer to the Middle East.
With a €1 billion release clause in his current contract with Real Madrid, the former Flamengo forward was reportedly offered lucrative compensation of over €350 million annually. Even though Vinicius will only have two seasons left on his contract next year, the Saudi Pro League is reportedly hopeful that Madrid would drop their demands. Nevertheless, the Spanish and European champions were unwilling to discuss a sum lower than that enormous amount.
Vinicius has been holding off on signing a new deal with Real Madrid, reportedly due to the Saudi interest. The two-time Champions League winner wanted more time to consider his options.
In Madrid’s opening two league matches of the year, includin The 1-1 draw with Mallorca and the Supercup victory over Atalanta should be discussed when Ancelotti’s team plays Real Valladolid on Sunday.
