With pleasure, Celtic Football Club announces the signing of Victor Simhen from Napoli FC for a four-year contract, pending international clearance.
The 20-year-old Belgian midfielder joined Club Brugge’s reserve team, Club NXT, after rising through the ranks of the club’s academy.
He joined German team FC Augsburg in 2023, and he played in more than 50 Bundesliga games there.
Engels has represented Belgium internationally at every age group, from Under-15 to Under-21. In the summer, he was called up to the Belgian first team squad for their Euros warm-up match against Montenegro.
Additionally, he is part of the most recent Belgium roster for the forthcoming Nations League campaign, which was revealed today, August 30.
Brendan Rodgers, manager of Celtic, expressed his happiness in bringing Victor Simhen to the team. He is a talented young player who is really exciting and has already left his mark in the Bundesliga at a very high level.
We think he’s a great addition to the team because of his versatility in midfield, which will allow him to play a variety of positions. Victor Simhen’s play style, vigor, and technical proficiency, in my opinion, are a perfect fit for our game model.
“While Celtic will always be our priority, it is fantastic, too, that Victor Simhen is now receiving full international recognition within a top Belgian squad, something he is very deserving of.”
