Demi Moore has shared her thoughts on Channing Tatum’s potential remake of Ghost, the 1990 romantic drama that earned critical acclaim and became a cultural touchstone. Speaking in a recent interview with Variety, Moore, 61, expressed reservations about revisiting the film, which originally starred her, Patrick Swayze, and Whoopi Goldberg.
“There are some films better left alone, but it depends on what the take is,” Moore commented when asked about Tatum’s plans. She highlighted that the film’s success was rooted in the unique chemistry of the cast, particularly Goldberg’s Oscar-winning comedic performance, Tony Goldwyn’s portrayal of an “unsuspecting villain,” and Swayze’s blend of “sweetness and virility.”
Moore’s remarks follow reports from August that insiders believe Tatum is navigating a “minefield” with the remake, potentially facing challenges with fans and original cast members. However, Moore remained neutral, adding, “Channing is incredibly intelligent and talented — who knows what he would bring to it if it happened.”
Tatum first revealed his interest in remaking Ghost in a January 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, where he disclosed that his production company, Free Association, had secured the rights to the film. While Tatum hinted at making changes to address outdated racial stereotypes, Moore has yet to be directly contacted regarding the project.
