Kevin Cronin Shocks Fans with REO Speedwagon’s Final Tour Announcement
In a surprising announcement today, REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin revealed that the iconic band will retire from touring at the end of 2024, citing “irreconcilable differences” between himself and bassist Bruce Hall. The band, best known for their classic hits like “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It on the Run,” will conclude their decades-long run of live performances after nearly five decades on the road.
The internal conflict reportedly stemmed from tensions that arose after Hall took a break due to back surgery last year. Despite his health issues, Hall had no plans to retire, and Cronin likewise emphasized his commitment to the band’s future. However, the personal and professional strains between the two band members ultimately led to the decision to end their touring career.
The band will continue their scheduled tour dates throughout 2024, with their final performance set for November 23 in Lexington, Kentucky. Both Cronin and Hall expressed heartbreak over the situation, with Hall stating that he had hoped for a proper farewell tour.
Fans have expressed mixed emotions, saddened by the end of an era but grateful for the band’s lasting impact on rock music.
