BREAKING NEWS: Joe Burrow Donates $3.6 Million to Open Shelter for Homeless Youth in Ohio

April 13, 2025 – Athens, OH

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and Ohio native Joe Burrow is once again proving he’s a champion both on and off the field. In a powerful show of community commitment, Burrow has announced a $3.6 million donation to open a shelter and empowerment center for homeless and at-risk youth in Athens, Ohio, where he grew up.

Named The JB9 House, the facility will offer safe housing, education resources, mental health support, and leadership training for youth ages 12–20 across southeastern Ohio — one of the most underserved regions in the state.

> “Athens shaped me,” said Burrow in a moving press conference. “I know what struggle looks like here, and I’ve seen how one opportunity can change everything. This is my way of creating that opportunity for someone else.”

A Legacy of Giving

This isn’t Burrow’s first time stepping up for his hometown. During his 2019 Heisman Trophy speech, he spotlighted poverty in Athens County, which led to over $600,000 being raised within days. Now, as a star in the NFL and a leader in the community, he’s taking it a step further.

The JB9 House is expected to open in summer 2026, in partnership with local nonprofits and educators, and will serve as a model for similar initiatives statewide.

“Joe isn’t just donating money — he’s creating hope,” said a local official. “This will save lives.”

Social Media Applauds

Fans and teammates praised Burrow’s action, with the hashtag #JB9House trending nationwide.

> “Joe Burrow stays winning — on the field and in the community,” one post read.
“True role model. This is what using your platform looks like,” said another.
