Second Woman Jumps into Niagara Falls Days After Fatal Plunge by New York Mother and Children

Niagara Falls, NY – Days after New York mother Chianti Means and her two young children tragically jumped into Niagara Falls, a second woman has reportedly entered the falls in a similar incident. Witnesses reported seeing the unidentified woman step into the water near Goat Island, close to Horseshoe Falls, with authorities suspecting her actions were intentional. A search is now underway, utilizing drones, foot patrols, and lookout points around the area.

The recent incident follows the tragic October 28 death of 33-year-old Means and her children, Mecca Means, five months, and Roman Rossman, nine. Means allegedly climbed over a guardrail at Luna Island before entering the water in what authorities have described as an intentional act. All three are presumed dead, though searches are ongoing.

Means, a Niagara Falls resident and domestic violence counselor, had shared emotional social media posts before the event, detailing her distress over a recent separation from her children’s father. Despite the posts, authorities confirmed the father is not suspected of involvement.

In response to the two tragic incidents, the New York State Park Police have intensified patrols around the falls and are working to improve safety measures in high-risk areas. The Falls, which draw millions of tourists each year for their beauty and natural majesty, have also seen several fatal incidents over time.

As investigations continue, local officials are stressing the importance of mental health resources and support for those experiencing emotional hardship, while looking into further safety protocols to prevent such tragedies at Niagara Falls.
