Moment Ago Shepherdsville Lost A 16 Years Old In A Tragic Mountain Mishap

Young Hiker Injured in Fall at Bernheim Forest

A young hiker from Shepherdsville was seriously injured over the weekend following a fall on a steep trail in the Bernheim Arboretum and Forest. The 16-year-old, who was hiking with friends, reportedly slipped while navigating a rocky section of the trail and fell down a steep embankment.

Emergency responders were alerted to the accident around 2 p.m. on Saturday. Due to the remote and challenging location of the accident, local fire and EMS teams faced difficulties in reaching the injured hiker. Rescuers had to carefully navigate the terrain, using ropes and stretchers to stabilize and transport the teenager.

After being stabilized on the scene, the hiker was airlifted to a hospital in Louisville. Medical officials have reported that the teenager is currently in critical but stable condition, undergoing treatment for multiple injuries, including fractures and head trauma.

The incident has prompted local authorities to remind the public of safety protocols when hiking in the area, especially on trails known for their rugged conditions. Park officials advise hikers to stay on marked paths, avoid risky terrain, and bring appropriate gear, especially in groups with younger or less experienced hikers.

The community has expressed support for the hiker’s family, with many sending well-wishes and prayers for a swift recovery.
