Phillip Island to Star in The Block’s Landmark 20th Season
The Block Australia is shaking things up for its 20th season by sending contestants to the picturesque Phillip Island, Victoria. Five teams-of-two will trade their tool belts for the challenge of transforming an abandoned resort into luxurious holiday homes. The scenic island, famous for its penguin colony and MotoGP racetrack, promises both inspiration and unique obstacles for the contestants.
Scott Cam and Shelley Craft return as hosts, but the judging panel sees a shake-up. Real estate director Marty Fox joins interior designers Darren Palmer and Shaynna Blaze, replacing long-time judge Neale Whitaker. Fox’s expertise in high-end real estate is set to bring a fresh perspective to the competition.
Cam, a seasoned television host and carpenter, hints at an exciting season full of surprises. “This Block has a few ‘firsts,’ things that have never happened before,” he said. “It’s a massive roller-coaster of ups and downs and ins and outs. It’s really hard to look away at times.”
The island location, two hours from Melbourne, adds logistical challenges for contestants and producers. It also opens new possibilities, with the holiday home theme pushing teams to create spaces that cater to a premium market. The move away from suburban settings is a strategic shift, keeping the long-running series fresh and engaging.
With its unique setting and promise of unexpected twists, The Block’s latest season aims to captivate audiences. Fans can expect breathtaking designs, heated competition, and plenty of drama as the contestants tackle one of the show’s most ambitious projects yet.
The Block airs later this year, bringing Phillip Island’s beauty and the contestants’ creativity into the spotlight.
