Phillip Island Penguin Parade Boardwalk Upgrade Underway
The iconic Penguin Parade on Phillip Island is receiving a $5 million upgrade, aimed at enhancing the visitor experience while protecting the natural habitat of the island’s Little Penguins. The centerpiece of the project involves the construction of a new accessible boardwalk and upgraded viewing stands, offering better accessibility for all visitors.
A helicopter was deployed to place steel frameworks along the beachfront, ensuring minimal disturbance to the penguin habitat during the construction phase. This innovative approach has been praised for its eco-sensitive methodology, aligning with Phillip Island’s commitment to wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism.
The boardwalk upgrade is expected to boost eco-tourism on the island, providing a more immersive and engaging experience for visitors while preserving the delicate ecosystem of the penguin colony. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2025.
