BREAKING: BBC Strictly’s Amy Dowden issues emotional ‘family’ announcement after cancer Diagnosis

Strictly Star Amy Dowden Opens Up About Family Dreams After Cancer Battle

Amy Dowden, the beloved Strictly Come Dancing professional, has shared her heartfelt aspirations of starting a family after her courageous battle with breast cancer. The 34-year-old dancer, who was diagnosed in 2023, revealed her journey of freezing five embryos prior to undergoing chemotherapy.

Dowden, who underwent a mastectomy and grueling chemotherapy, joyously announced in February 2024 that she is disease-free following recent tests. Despite returning triumphantly to the BBC dance floor in September, an injury forced her to withdraw early from the competition.

Speaking on the What If? podcast with Lorraine Kelly and Rosie, Dowden reflected on her resilience and zest for life. “I’m just saying yes to as many opportunities and living life to the full, spending time with loved ones as well,” she said. “And obviously, we would love a family, and we’ve got embryos because I’ve got a hormone-fed cancer, so I was put into menopause, which happened the day I started chemo.”

Dowden’s decision to preserve embryos with her husband, Ben Jones, underscores her determination to embrace the possibility of parenthood despite the challenges posed by her cancer journey.

Fans and colleagues continue to rally around the dancer, who remains an inspiration for her strength, optimism, and unwavering hope for the future.
