The Milwaukee Brewers have strengthened their bullpen by acquiring right-handed relief pitcher Grant Anderson from the Texas Rangers. In exchange, the Brewers traded minor league left-hander Mason Molina to the Rangers.

Anderson, 26, made 23 relief appearances for the Rangers in 2024, recording a 0-1 record with an 8.10 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 26 2/3 innings. Despite these struggles at the major league level, he excelled in Triple-A, achieving a 3-0 record with a 2.93 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings. The Brewers are optimistic that Anderson can replicate his minor league success in Milwaukee’s bullpen.

To accommodate Anderson on the 40-man roster, the Brewers designated left-handed reliever Tyler Jay for assignment. Jay, who pitched for both the Mets and Brewers in 2024, allowed five runs over 7 2/3 innings in five games.

Mason Molina, 21, was selected by the Brewers in the seventh round of the 2024 draft. He made two starts at Class-A Carolina, pitching five shutout innings with six strikeouts. The Rangers view Molina as a promising addition to their minor league system.

This trade is part of the Brewers’ ongoing efforts to enhance their pitching staff for the upcoming season. Earlier in the offseason, they acquired left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes and infielder Caleb Durbin from the New York Yankees in exchange for right-handed pitcher Devin Williams.

As the offseason progresses, the Brewers continue to make strategic moves to position themselves as strong contenders in the National League Central Division for the 2025 season.
