In the early hours of January 1, a man drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, resulting in at least 14 fatalities and numerous injuries. The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was shot and killed by police after a brief exchange of gunfire. The FBI is investigating the incident as an act of terrorism. Jabbar had previously served in Afghanistan and had expressed allegiance to the Islamic State. Experts suggest that recent events, such as the ongoing conflict in Gaza, may have influenced his radicalization.

Las Vegas Cybertruck Explosion:

 

On the same day, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. The driver, 37-year-old Army Special Forces soldier Matthew Livelsberger, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound just before the explosion. Investigations revealed that Livelsberger had filled the vehicle with gas canisters and fireworks, intending the explosion as a “wake-up call” to draw attention to his grievances. Authorities have confirmed that the incident was not a terrorist attack.
