The wildfires have also intensified California’s existing housing crisis. Tens of thousands of residents have been displaced, exacerbating the shortage of available rental properties. The disaster underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive rebuilding strategy that addresses both immediate housing needs and long-term solutions, such as constructing fire-resistant and affordable housing. Additionally, the state’s insurance crisis has led to increased premiums and left many homeowners without adequate coverage, further complicating recovery efforts.
