Kate Garraway to Feature in New Netflix Documentary on Caregiving Challenges

London, UK – January 2025

Renowned broadcaster Kate Garraway is set to feature in a groundbreaking Netflix documentary exploring the challenges of long-term caregiving. The documentary, titled “Unseen Battles: The Reality of Caregiving,” will provide an intimate look into the lives of families navigating complex health conditions while shedding light on the struggles within the UK’s social care system.

Garraway, best known for her work on Good Morning Britain, has been a vocal advocate for caregivers following her late husband Derek Draper’s battle with severe health complications after contracting COVID-19. Her previous ITV documentaries, Finding Derek and Caring for Derek, were widely praised for their raw portrayal of the personal and financial toll of caregiving.

Speaking about the new Netflix project, Garraway said, “This is not just my story—it’s the story of millions who wake up every day facing the unimaginable. I hope this documentary sparks the much-needed conversation about how we support those caring for loved ones.”

The documentary will feature interviews with families, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, providing a broader perspective on the issues within the caregiving system. It will also include never-before-seen footage of Garraway’s personal journey, offering an unfiltered look at the emotional highs and lows of being a full-time caregiver.

Netflix’s Head of Documentaries, Sarah Wilkinson, described the project as “a powerful and necessary exploration of a crisis that affects millions worldwide. Kate’s story is incredibly moving, and we hope this documentary will drive meaningful change.”

Unseen Battles: The Reality of Caregiving is set to premiere globally on Netflix in late 2025.
