ÓIn a heartfelt return to the “Dancing with the Stars” stage, Derek Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, delivered an emotional performance nearly a year after Erbert’s emergency brain surgery. The couple performed a contemporary dance to an acoustic rendition of “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone, captivating the audience and leaving many in tears.
This performance marked Erbert’s first appearance in the ballroom since her health scare in December 2023, when she suffered a cranial hematoma and underwent an emergency craniectomy. Reflecting on the experience, Erbert expressed gratitude for her recovery and the opportunity to dance again, stating, “It’s always so special to be back in the ballroom, and the energy is always so welcoming. It was even more special tonight, just to be back here after not knowing if I would ever be able to dance again.”
The couple, who married in August 2024, is also working on a documentary detailing their journey through Erbert’s health crisis and recovery. Directed by Jason Bergh and produced by Voyeur Verite Presents, the documentary aims to provide an intimate look into their challenges and triumphs during this period.
