“IT’S A PITY: Denver Broncos Fire Coach After Shocking Airport Arrest for Alleged Assault on Police Officer”

Denver Broncos Fire Linebackers Coach Michael Wilhoite Following Arrest for Alleged Assault on Police Officer

The Denver Broncos have officially parted ways with outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite after his recent arrest at Denver International Airport. Wilhoite, 38, was taken into custody on February 23, 2025, after allegedly assaulting a police officer during a dispute over an unattended vehicle. Reports indicate that the situation escalated when Wilhoite became confrontational, eventually punching the officer in the face.

Following the incident, the Broncos swiftly moved to terminate Wilhoite’s contract, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to high standards both on and off the field. Wilhoite had been with the team since 2023, previously serving as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers.

“We hold our coaches and players to the highest level of professionalism, and after reviewing the details of the incident, we decided to move on from Coach Wilhoite,” a Broncos spokesperson stated.

Wilhoite is scheduled for a court appearance on March 10, where he will face charges related to the alleged assault. His departure leaves a vacancy in the Broncos’ coaching staff, adding another challenge as the team looks to rebuild after a disappointing 2024 season.
