Jeremiah Smith Reaffirms Commitment to Ohio State: “I’ve Put My Sweat and Blood Into This—I’m Not Going Anywhere”

Columbus, OH – March 20, 2025

After weeks of speculation surrounding his future, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has put all doubts to rest, declaring his unwavering loyalty to the Buckeyes.

Smith, who played a pivotal role in Ohio State’s national championship run, addressed recent rumors linking him to potential transfers or early NFL Draft declarations. In an emotional statement following a team practice, the sophomore standout made it clear: he’s staying put.

“I’ve put my sweat and blood into this program since the day I arrived,” Smith said. “People can talk all they want, but this is my home. This team, this university—it means everything to me. I’m not going anywhere.”

The speculation began after whispers of other programs attempting to lure Smith away with NIL offers and promises of expanded roles. However, Smith dismissed the chatter, reaffirming his trust in Coach Ryan Day and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, both of whom played key roles in his development.

“Coach Day and Coach Hartline believed in me before anyone else did at this level,” Smith added. “We’ve built something special here, and I’m locked in on bringing more championships to Ohio State.”

Smith’s decision comes as a relief to Buckeye Nation, especially after his historic freshman season, in which he shattered records for receiving yards and touchdowns by a true freshman. With Emeka Egbuka heading to the NFL, Smith is expected to take on an even bigger leadership role in Ohio State’s offense next season.

His teammates echoed his sentiments, with rising quarterback Julian Sayin praising Smith’s dedication.

“You won’t find a guy more committed than Jeremiah,” Sayin said. “We’ve got unfinished business, and having him here makes us that much stronger.”

For now, Buckeye fans can breathe easy—one of the nation’s top talents isn’t just staying at Ohio State; he’s doubling down on his commitment to build a dynasty in Columbus.
