Mass Exodus: Six Providence Friars Enter Transfer Portal in Shocking Roster Shake-Up

Providence Friars Men’s Basketball Faces Significant Roster Changes as Six Players Enter Transfer Portal

The Providence College men’s basketball team is undergoing a significant transformation, with six players entering the transfer portal in recent days. This development signals a substantial shift in the team’s composition as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Among the latest to announce their departure are starting guard Jayden Pierre and forward Anton Bonke. Pierre has committed to transferring to Seattle University, according to reports from 24/7 Sports. These moves follow earlier announcements by teammates Eli DeLaurier and Christ Essandoko, who also entered the portal earlier this week.

These roster changes come in the wake of a challenging season for the Friars. The team concluded their campaign with a 75-63 loss to the University of Connecticut on March 1, 2025, marking their third consecutive defeat and extending their record to 0-9 against the top four teams in the Big East Conference.

As the transfer portal activity continues, the Friars’ coaching staff faces the task of rebuilding and strategizing for the next season, aiming to enhance their competitiveness within the Big East and on the national

stage.
