Kim English Turns Down $5 Million Annual Offer from Villanova, Commits to Providence Friars

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In a move that solidifies his commitment to the Providence Friars, head coach Kim English has reportedly rejected a lucrative offer from Villanova University. Sources indicate that the Wildcats approached English with a deal worth approximately $5 million per season to take over as their head coach.

Villanova, a storied program with multiple national championships, has been searching for a new leader following recent coaching turmoil. English, however, has chosen to stay the course with the Friars, citing his deep investment in the program and belief in its future.

“I’m building something special at Providence, and I have no intention of leaving,” English said in a statement. “This program, these players, and this community mean everything to me. We’re going to keep pushing forward and competing at the highest level.”

English, who took over the Friars in 2023, has quickly revitalized the team, making them a rising force in the Big East. His decision to turn down Villanova’s offer sends a strong message about his loyalty to Providence and his long-term vision for the program.

While Villanova will now have to shift its coaching search elsewhere, Providence fans can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing their head coach remains committed to the Friars’ success.
