Marley Washenitz Commits to Oklahoma Sooners for Final Season

March 30, 2025 — Former Pittsburgh guard Marley Washenitz has officially committed to the University of Oklahoma for her final season of eligibility, providing a major boost to the Sooners’ backcourt as they prepare for the 2025-26 season.

Washenitz, a Fairmont, West Virginia native and former Fairmont Senior High School standout, entered the transfer portal after a strong season with the Panthers, where she averaged 9.3 points, 2.7 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. She received interest from multiple programs, including West Virginia and South Carolina, but ultimately chose Oklahoma as her next destination.

“Oklahoma felt like home to me,” Washenitz said. “The coaching staff, the playing style, and the energy of the program really stood out. I can’t wait to compete in the Big 12 and help this team achieve its goals.”

Head coach Jennie Baranczyk expressed excitement about the addition of Washenitz, highlighting her scoring ability and leadership.

“Marley is a dynamic guard who brings skill, toughness, and experience to our team,” Baranczyk said. “Her ability to create plays and make an impact on both ends of the floor will be a great asset for us.”

With the Sooners looking to strengthen their roster for a deep postseason run, Washenitz’s commitment adds valuable depth and experience. Oklahoma fans can look forward to seeing her play a key role in the upcoming season.
