Meteorologist Jacqui Jeras Joins Fox Weather Amid Industry Shifts
In a significant move within the meteorological community, Jacqui Jeras, a seasoned broadcast meteorologist known for her tenure at The Weather Channel, has announced her transition to Fox Weather. This development comes as Fox Weather continues to expand its team, recently adding notable figures such as Mike Seidel, another former Weather Channel personality who joined in August 2024.
Jeras, who has earned recognition for her engaging weather reporting and expertise, expressed enthusiasm about her new role. Her move aligns with Fox Weather’s ongoing efforts to bolster its on-air talent roster, following the addition of Bob Van Dillen in July 2023.
This transition occurs amidst broader changes in the industry. Earlier this year, Allen Media Group replaced local meteorologists across nearly two dozen TV stations with a feed from The Weather Channel, leading to emotional farewells from affected staff.
Additionally, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has faced significant layoffs, with 880 employees, including meteorologists, being cut. These reductions have raised concerns about the accuracy of weather forecasts and the overall quality of climate science.
As Jeras embarks on this new chapter with Fox Weather, the network continues to position itself as a formidable player in the weather broadcasting landscape, attracting top talent during a period of notable industry transf
ormation.
