Bryce Hopkins Transfers to St. John’s, Citing Development Opportunities Under Coach Pitino

 

Providence College forward Bryce Hopkins has announced his transfer to St. John’s University, marking a significant acquisition for the Red Storm under Coach Rick Pitino. Hopkins, who also considered Georgetown, highlighted St. John’s player development focus and Pitino’s rigorous training regimen as pivotal factors in his decision.

 

The 6-foot-7 forward experienced a challenging 2024 season due to a knee injury but has since demonstrated his recovery and readiness to contribute on the court. During the 2022-23 season, Hopkins earned All-Big East first-team honors, averaging 15.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

 

Hopkins’ transfer is part of St. John’s strategic efforts to bolster their roster through the transfer portal, following the recent addition of Arizona State’s Joson Sanon. The team aims to strengthen both their frontcourt and backcourt as they prepare for the upcoming se
