Providence Coach Kim English Addresses ‘Embarrassing’ Season and Promises Changes
Providence College men’s basketball head coach Kim English has openly reflected on the team’s challenging 2024-2025 season, labeling it as “pitiful” and “embarrassing.” Following the Friars’ early exit from the Big East Tournament with a 75-69 loss to Butler, English acknowledged the need for significant improvements.
The season concluded with a six-game losing streak, prompting English to take responsibility for the team’s performance and commit to making necessary adjustments.
In addition to on-court struggles, English faced disciplinary actions, including a $5,000 fine from the Big East Conference for derogatory comments directed at a game official during a loss to Xavier. There were also reports of a heated exchange with a fan following a game, further highlighting the challenges faced during the season.
Looking ahead, English is focused on rebuilding the team’s dynamics and restoring Providence’s competitive edge in the upcoming
season.
