An Epochal Open Letter from Coach Mark Kellogg to the WVU Women’s Basketball Team, Fans, and the Entire Mountaineer Community
Dear Mountaineer Nation,
It is with great humility and excitement that I step into the role of Head Coach for the West Virginia University Women’s Basketball team. I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to the incredible coaching staff, the players, the administration, and of course, the fans — you all have made me feel nothing short of welcomed since the very first moment I arrived on campus.
To the incredible student-athletes who make up the backbone of this program: your talent, drive, and passion are what drew me to WVU, and it is you who will continue to be the heart of this program. I promise to bring every ounce of my energy and dedication to helping you achieve your goals, both on and off the court. Together, we will continue to build something special, not just for the present but for the future of Mountaineer Women’s Basketball.
I am so grateful to the entire WVU community for the warm welcome and support that has been shown to me. Your love for this program is infectious, and it’s an honor to join such a storied institution. I look forward to getting to know each of you personally, as you have already shown me that Mountaineer Nation is not just about basketball; it’s about family.
I also want to thank the administration for trusting me with this important responsibility. The values of excellence, integrity, and commitment to community that WVU stands for align perfectly with my own, and I am ready to bring my experience to lead our student-athletes toward greater heights.
As I step into this position, I am filled with optimism and excitement for what lies ahead. With hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support of Mountaineer Nation, there is no limit to what we can achieve. Together, we will continue to build a program that makes this university and this community proud.
