Spectrum Kansas City is thrilled to announce the addition of esteemed meteorologist Jen Carfagno to our weather team. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Jen brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for meteorology that will greatly enhance our commitment to delivering accurate and engaging weather coverage to the Kansas City community.

Jen’s fascination with weather began in her childhood in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, where she was captivated by the complexities of atmospheric phenomena. This early interest led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 1998. During her time at Penn State, she interned at The Weather Channel, laying the foundation for her future in broadcast meteorology.

Upon completing her degree, Jen joined The Weather Channel full-time, where she participated in the on-camera meteorologist apprentice program. Her dedication and skill quickly propelled her to prominent roles, including co-hosting “America’s Morning Headquarters” (AMHQ), where she provided viewers with comprehensive weather updates and insights. Throughout her tenure, Jen covered a wide array of extreme weather events, from blizzards and hurricanes to tornadoes and flooding, both in-studio and in the field. Her ability to convey complex meteorological information with clarity and enthusiasm has made her a trusted figure in weather broadcasting.

Beyond her on-air presence, Jen has been actively involved in initiatives aimed at enhancing public understanding of weather science. She has developed and led Weather Camps across the country, inspiring young minds to explore the field of meteorology. Her commitment to education and outreach aligns seamlessly with Spectrum Kansas City’s mission to inform and engage our audience.

In recognition of her significant contributions to the field, Jen was inducted into the Meteorologist Hall of Fame at the Weather Discovery Center in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, in February 2025. This honor underscores her impact on the industry and her unwavering dedication to weather reporting.
