Julianne Hough Makes Powerful Return to Music with Emotional Tracks Inspired by Her Debut Novel
Julianne Hough is stepping back into the spotlight—this time through both the written word and soulful music. The multitalented star, best known for her work as a dancer, actress, and singer, has just released her debut novel Everything We Never Knew (August 13, 2024), and with it, a deeply personal musical collection inspired by the story’s emotional journey.
Co-written with Ellen Goodlett, the novel centers on a woman named Lexi who discovers the power to feel others’ emotions and access their memories. This sets her on a transformative path of healing, identity, and rediscovery.
To accompany the novel’s themes, Hough has released five songs: the title track “Everything We Never Knew,” along with “Air,” “Fire,” “Water,” and “Earth.” Each song connects with the elemental lessons that Lexi learns, bringing the story to life through melody.
This marks Hough’s first major return to music since her 2008 self-titled album. Speaking about the project, she shared, “I’ve never felt more aligned with my art. This story—both the novel and the music—reflects my own journey of love, grief, healing, and self-discovery.”
Julianne also hinted at more music to come, possibly a full album, as she continues embracing this new creative chapter.
Fans can now experience the full scope of her storytelling—through the pages of her novel and the power of her voice.
