Kristin Armstrong Inducted into UCI Hall of Fame, Cementing Legacy as Time Trial Legend
Lausanne, Switzerland — April 12, 2025
Kristin Armstrong, the most decorated time trialist in Olympic history, has officially been inducted into the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Hall of Fame, the sport’s highest honor. The three-time Olympic gold medalist was celebrated during a special ceremony at the UCI headquarters in Aigle, Switzerland, joining an elite class of cycling legends.
Armstrong, who won time trial gold in Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016, becomes the first American woman to be inducted based solely on achievements in the time trial discipline. She also boasts two UCI World Championship titles and six U.S. national championships.
UCI President David Lappartient praised Armstrong’s contributions: “Kristin redefined what was possible in women’s cycling, particularly in the time trial. Her precision, discipline, and dominance over nearly a decade elevated the sport globally.”
In her acceptance speech, Armstrong reflected on her journey: “I never raced for fame, only for the pure joy of pushing my limits. To be recognized by the UCI in this way is humbling, and I hope it inspires young cyclists—especially girls—to dream big.”
Retired since 2016, Armstrong has remained active in the cycling community, mentoring athletes, advocating for women in sport, and helping develop U.S. Olympic talent. She joins legendary figures like Jacques Anquetil, Miguel Indurain, and Jeannie Longo in the UCI’s prestigious Hall of Fame.
The induction was part of the UCI’s ongoing efforts to honor athletes who have not only achieved greatness on the bike but also influenced the future of the sport.
