BREAKING NEWS: Ric’Darious “DayDay” Farmer Invests $3.6 Million to Open Shelter for Homeless Youth in West Virginia
April 13, 2025 – Morgantown, WV — In a powerful demonstration of leadership beyond the field, West Virginia Mountaineers freshman wide receiver Ric’Darious “DayDay” Farmer has invested $3.6 million to transform a large estate near Morgantown into a shelter and resource center for homeless youth across the region.
The initiative, called “Farmer’s House of Hope,” will provide safe housing, food, educational support, and counseling services for young people facing homelessness in West Virginia. The facility, set to open this fall, will include dorm-style accommodations, classrooms, therapy rooms, and a full-service kitchen.
Farmer, just months into his college football career, said he was inspired by his own upbringing and the stories of others who struggled to find stability. “This isn’t about football,” he said at the unveiling. “It’s about making sure every kid has a chance, no matter what their situation is. I want to use what I’ve been blessed with to give someone else hope.”
The 18-year-old wideout has become a fan favorite for his talent and maturity, earning praise not only for his on-field play but also for his leadership and heart. Mountaineers head coach Neal Brown commended Farmer’s efforts: “What Ric’Darious is doing is incredible. He’s setting an example that goes way beyond football.”
Local leaders and community advocates also voiced strong support for the project, calling it a game-changer in the fight against youth homelessness in Appalachia.
Farmer’s bold investment marks one of the largest charitable moves by a current college athlete in 2025, further cementing his role as one of the most talked-about young athletes in the country — not just for what he does with the ball, but what he does with his heart.
