Ethen Miller Reverses Course, Announces Return to Maryland Wrestling
April 14, 2025 — In a stunning turn of events, All-American wrestler Ethen Miller has officially withdrawn from the NCAA transfer portal and announced he will return to the University of Maryland for his final season of eligibility.
Just days after committing to Virginia Tech, Miller released a statement reaffirming his commitment to the Terps, citing “unfinished business” and a deep connection to the program and its fanbase.

Miller, who earned the No. 1 seed at this year’s Big Ten Championships at 157 pounds and finished the season with a 23-5 record, was one of the most sought-after wrestlers in the portal. His reversal is a massive boost for head coach Alex Clemsen and the Maryland wrestling program, which is looking to build on its top-25 NCAA finish this year.
