Webber International University Bowlers Strike Guinness World Record Glory
January 24, 2011 – Lake Wales, FL
In a dazzling display of speed and precision, three student-athletes from Webber International University etched their names into the Guinness World Records at the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Florida. The event marked a milestone not only for collegiate bowling but for the international bowling community.
Leading the historic feat was freshman Colin Champion, who delivered eight strikes in just 60 seconds, shattering the previous world record of six set by Sweden’s Tomas Leandersson in 2001. Champion’s remarkable performance was backed by his teammates Kristis Sergejevas of Lithuania and Marcelo Suartz of Brazil, who each managed to tie the old record with seven strikes apiece—an impressive display in its own right.
The attempt was organized and verified under official Guinness World Records guidelines, and each bowler was required to retrieve their ball and make each throw from the same lane within the minute.
“This isn’t just a win for Webber,” said head coach Del Warren. “It’s a statement about the caliber of collegiate bowling and the elite talent we’re developing.”
The record-breaking moment earned Webber International’s bowling program global recognition and solidified its reputation as one of the premier college bowling programs in the world.
As Champion celebrated with his teammates, the message was clear: college bowlers are not just chasing championships—they’re rewriting the record books.
