Tiger Woods’ TGL Debut: A Night of High-Tech Golf and Family Humor

In a much-anticipated debut, Tiger Woods took to the virtual fairways in the inaugural match of the Tech Golf League (TGL), a high-tech indoor golf competition co-founded with Rory McIlroy. The event, held at the purpose-built SoFi Center in Florida, featured six teams representing various cities, with Woods leading the Jupiter Links Golf Club alongside teammates Max Homa and Kevin Kisner.

The match, however, didn’t go as planned for Woods’ team, as they suffered a 12-1 defeat to the Los Angeles Golf Club. A notable moment occurred on a 582-yard par-five hole when Woods’ approach shot found the water, eliciting gasps from the audience. Among the spectators was his 15-year-old son, Charlie, who couldn’t contain his amusement, laughing and pointing at his father’s misstep. Despite the loss, Woods maintained a positive demeanor, stating, “We were entertaining,” and emphasizing the league’s goal of showcasing a different side of professional golfers.

The TGL aims to revolutionize golf by combining advanced technology with top-tier talent in a fast-paced, two-hour format. The next match is scheduled for January 21, featuring the New York and Atlanta clubs.
