Columbus, OH — The Ohio State Buckeyes women’s basketball team received national recognition as junior forward Cotie McMahon and freshman guard Jaloni Cambridge were named to the prestigious Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year Midseason Watch List. This honor places them among the top 50 players in the country, solidifying their status as key contributors not only for the Buckeyes but also in the national landscape.
McMahon, known for her physicality and leadership on the court, has been a dominant force this season, showcasing her ability to score, rebound, and defend at an elite level. Her consistent performances have been critical to Ohio State’s success, providing stability and experience in high-pressure situations.
On the other hand, Cambridge has made an immediate impact as a freshman. The dynamic guard has turned heads with her scoring ability, court vision, and defensive tenacity. Her seamless transition to the college game has been a major storyline this season, proving she belongs among the nation’s best despite her rookie status.
Head Coach Kevin McGuff praised both players for their dedication and hard work. “Cotie and Jaloni embody what it means to be a Buckeye. Their commitment to excellence on and off the court is what sets them apart. This recognition is well-deserved,” McGuff said.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, presented annually by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), honors the top player in NCAA Division I women’s basketball. Named after basketball legend Ann Meyers Drysdale, the award celebrates excellence, leadership, and impact in the sport.
With McMahon and Cambridge leading the charge, Ohio State looks poised for a strong finish to the season, with hopes of making a deep run in the postseason. Their inclusion on this watch list not only highlights individual talent but also reflects the strength of the Buckeyes’ program.
