Oklahoma Softball Dominates: Five Sooners Earn NFCA All-American Honors, Team Nominated for Two ESPY Awards
The Oklahoma Sooners softball team continues to solidify its reputation as one of the most dominant programs in college sports. As they set their sights on another Women’s College World Series title, they are also making headlines off the field. Five Sooners have been named NFCA All-Americans, and the team is in the running for two prestigious ESPY Awards.
Five Sooners Named NFCA All-Americans
On May 30, 2024, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recognized five Oklahoma players as All-Americans, further highlighting the team’s incredible depth and talent.
Alyssa Brito (Third Baseman) – A two-time First-Team All-American, Brito posted a stellar .399 batting average with 18 home runs, 16 doubles, and 61 RBIs.
Tiare Jennings (Infielder) – A powerhouse at the plate, Jennings has consistently earned All-American honors, proving her dominance year after year.
Jayda Coleman (Outfielder) – A three-time First-Team All-American, Coleman’s incredible defense and clutch hitting have been crucial for the Sooners.
Kinzie Hansen (Catcher) – A leader behind the plate, Hansen continues to showcase her offensive firepower, earning another First-Team All-American selection.
Jordy Bahl (Pitcher) – One of the best pitchers in the country, Bahl’s dominant performances have made her a repeat All-American honoree.
Sooners Up for Two ESPY Awards
As if the All-American honors weren’t enough, Oklahoma softball has also been nominated for two ESPY Awards. The Sooners are in the running for Best Team, recognizing their continued excellence and championship success. Meanwhile, Jayda Coleman’s jaw-dropping catch during the Women’s College World Series has earned a nomination for Best Play.
