Tiger Woods Ruptures Achilles Tendon, Likely to Miss Entire 2025 Golf Season
Tiger Woods, the 49-year-old golf legend, has suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon during a training session at his Florida home. He underwent minimally invasive surgery and faces a recovery period of four to six months, effectively sidelining him for the entire 2025 major golf season, including the Masters Tournament in April.
This injury adds to a series of physical setbacks for Woods, who has previously dealt with multiple back surgeries, a severe car accident in 2021, and an ankle fusion surgery in April 2023. His last major appearance was at the British Open in July 2024, where he missed the cut.
Fellow golfer Rory McIlroy expressed sympathy for Woods, acknowledging his continued struggle with injuries and expressing hope for his return in 2026. McIlroy also reflected on his own career longevity, stating, “There’s no way I’ll still be playing at 50.”
