An Epochal Open Letter from Gunnar Henderson to the Baltimore Orioles, Fans, and the Entire Orioles Community
“To the City of Baltimore, the Orioles Organization, and the Best Fans in Baseball…”
As I sit back and reflect on this incredible journey, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I feel compelled to share these words from the heart — not as just a player, but as a proud member of the Orioles family.
When I first stepped onto the field wearing the orange and black, I could never have imagined the love, support, and belief this city would pour into me. Baltimore is more than a place I play baseball — it’s home. It’s where I’ve grown — not just as a ballplayer, but as a person.
To the Orioles organization — thank you for trusting me, developing me, and giving me the platform to chase my dreams. Every coach, teammate, and staff member who’s been part of my journey has left a mark on me that I’ll carry forever.
To the fans — words fall short. From Camden Yards to every street corner in this city, I’ve felt your energy. I’ve heard your cheers through the highs, and felt your support through the challenges. You believed in me before the accolades came. That love doesn’t go unnoticed.
Baltimore is a city built on resilience, heart, and loyalty. It’s in the way you show up every game, the way you wear our colors with pride, and the way you lift your own.
Everything I’ve accomplished so far — from being named an All-Star to having the honor of stepping back on that field after injury — it’s because of the foundation this community provided. This city raised me.
As I look ahead, know this — I’ll continue to give everything I have for this team, this city, and for every fan who ever believed in a kid from Selma, Alabama.
Thank you, Baltimore — for shaping me, supporting me, and giving me the privilege to call this place home.
Forever Grateful,
Gunnar Henderson
