South Carolina Women’s Basketball Adds Former Arkansas Forward Maryam Dauda to Roster
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Gamecocks have made a significant addition to their women’s basketball team by securing former Arkansas forward Maryam Dauda. The 6-foot-4 Dauda, who announced her commitment on social media Wednesday, is expected to bring considerable strength to the reigning national champions.
Dauda, hailing from Bentonville, Arkansas, spent the past three seasons with the Razorbacks. In her most recent season, she started all 33 games, leading her team in field-goal percentage, blocks, and offensive rebounds. Her impressive performance positions her as a strong asset for South Carolina, which aims to fill the gap left by 6-7 Kamilla Cardoso, their leading scorer and post presence, who is departing after an undefeated season.
Coming to Arkansas as a McDonald’s All-American, Dauda faced a setback in her first year (2021-22) due to injury. However, she made a remarkable comeback, averaging 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds this past season. Her ability to dominate in the paint and on the boards makes her a critical addition to the Gamecocks’ lineup.

At South Carolina, Dauda will join an already formidable frontcourt that played pivotal roles in their team’s perfect 38-0 season. This lineup includes 6-3 Ashlyn Watkins, 6-3 Sania Feagin, and 6-2 Chloe Kitts. The Gamecocks have also added 6-5 freshman Adhel Tac, who joined the team midseason last year as she recovered from a knee injury.
