Pat McAfee Celebrates Easter with Homeless Youth, Donates $50K to Support Their Development
April 20, 2025 – Morgantown, WV
In a heartfelt Easter celebration, WVU legend and media personality Pat McAfee returned to Morgantown to give back to the community that shaped his early years. The all-time leading scorer in program history—though more famously known for his NFL and media career—spent Easter Sunday with a group of homeless youth at the Mountaineer Mission Shelter.
McAfee didn’t just show up to shake hands. The Pat McAfee Foundation surprised the shelter with a $50,000 donation earmarked for educational resources, mental health support, and job training programs. The funds will be used to expand mentorship initiatives and provide essentials for youths transitioning out of homelessness.
“We talk a lot about being a ‘Mountaineer forever,’” McAfee told the crowd. “But it’s not just about touchdowns or field goals—it’s about showing up for each other. These kids are the future, and they deserve a real shot.”
The Easter event featured games, a catered meal, and even a surprise live performance by a local high school band. McAfee, dressed casually in a WVU hoodie, spent hours speaking with each teen, listening to their stories, and sharing laughs.
“He’s a real one,” said 17-year-old Devin, a resident at the shelter. “He didn’t come here to flex or preach—he came here to care.”
Organizers called the event one of the most impactful community moments in recent memory. As McAfee left, he promised it wouldn’t be the last time he’d return home to help.
“This is only the beginning,” he said. “We’re gonna build something special here
