Kate Gallego Re-Elected as Phoenix Mayor, Pledges to Drive Sustainability and Economic Growth
PHOENIX, AZ — In a resounding victory, Kate Gallego has been re-elected as Mayor of Phoenix, securing her third and final term in office. Gallego defeated challenger Matt Evans with approximately 64.27% of the vote, according to official results from Maricopa County.
Throughout her campaign, Gallego emphasized sustainability, economic development, and infrastructure improvements. She touted major accomplishments, including attracting a $65 billion semiconductor manufacturing plant to the city—a move projected to bring thousands of high-paying jobs and further establish Phoenix as a tech and innovation hub.
“Over the last five years, we’ve created jobs that lift families, invested in our long-term water supply, and made our city even safer,” Gallego said in her victory speech. “I’m incredibly grateful that Phoenix voters have elected me to serve a final term as mayor, and I look forward to continuing to build a future that works for everyone.”
Gallego, who will be sworn in for her final four-year term in April 2025, is the second woman ever elected mayor in Phoenix’s history and remains one of the youngest mayors of a major U.S. city. Her administration is expected to maintain a strong focus on sustainable development, economic diversification, and enhancing quality of life for all Phoenix residents.
