David Ragan Reunites with RFK Racing for 2024 Daytona 500

Veteran NASCAR driver David Ragan is set to make a significant return to RFK Racing for the 2024 Daytona 500. This move marks a reunion with the team where he initially made his mark in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Ragan will be driving the No. 60 BuildSubmarines.com Ford Mustang as part of RFK’s new #Stage60 program. This initiative aims to honor the legacy of RFK Racing while paving the way for future successes. Ragan, who began his full-time Cup Series career with RFK Racing, formerly known as Roush Fenway Racing, expressed his enthusiasm about the reunion. “It’s really exciting to be back in an RFK Ford,” Ragan said. “I spent some of the best years of my career driving for Mr. Jack [Roush] and the team at RFK. They really gave me my first opportunity in the sport”

The #Stage60 program is designed to be more than a one-off event. RFK Racing has plans to announce additional races and events involving the No. 60 car later in the season. The initiative also features a ‘modern retro’ design for the No. 60, paying homage to the classic Roush Stage III Mustang while staying true to the current RFK Racing brand

Ragan’s return to the Daytona 500 comes with high hopes. He has previously demonstrated strong performances at Daytona, including a memorable near-win in the 2011 Daytona 500. Ragan’s recent track record at Daytona includes one top-five and two top-10 finishes in his last four starts at the historic track

Despite the excitement, Ragan acknowledges the challenges ahead. He expressed confidence in RFK Racing’s preparations and the performance of the Roush Yates engine in his Ford Mustang. “We feel like we’ve got enough speed with our Dark Horse Ford Mustang that we’ll be in really good shape to be one of those top couple of cars that are locked in on speed,” Ragan stated

While Ragan is focused on the upcoming qualifying sessions, he remains optimistic about his chances. “This is just a special race,” he emphasized. “Even if I wasn’t racing, I think it’s just second nature to come to Daytona in February to be here for Speed Weeks”

With his return to RFK Racing and the Daytona 500, David Ragan aims to recapture the magic of his earlier years and potentially secure a long-awaited victory at one of NASCAR’s most prestigious events.
