Todd Hazelwood Confirmed for Erebus Motorsport at Melbourne SuperSprint
In a significant development for the Supercars Championship, Todd Hazelwood has been confirmed as Erebus Motorsport’s driver for the upcoming Melbourne SuperSprint. This decision comes amidst ongoing contract disputes involving Brodie Kostecki, who has been absent from the team since the start of the season.
Hazelwood, who impressed with solid performances at the Bathurst race, where he finished 11th and 13th, will continue to represent Erebus at the Australian Grand Prix event. The team’s decision underscores their confidence in Hazelwood’s abilities to maintain competitive momentum during this transitional period
Erebus Motorsport’s CEO, Barry Ryan, expressed his appreciation for Hazelwood’s efforts under pressure. “Todd has performed brilliantly, handling considerable scrutiny with poise. We are grateful for his contributions and look forward to his continued presence in the team,” said Ryan.
However, Hazelwood’s stint as a full-time driver is expected to be temporary. Kostecki, the reigning Supercars champion, is slated to return for the Taupō Super400 in New Zealand, which will see Hazelwood step back from the primary driving role
This development marks the latest chapter in Erebus Motorsport’s efforts to stabilize their lineup amidst a challenging start to the season. As Hazelwood prepares for the Melbourne SuperSprint, all eyes will be on his performance as he seeks to make the most of this high-profile opportunity.
